Celebrations of Govardhana Puja and Srila Prabhupada Disappearance day

govardhan-and-damodhara-aratiIt was an extremely special event involving many devotees for the Govardhana Puja and Srila Prabhupada Disappearance day. The programme started by telecasting Srila Prabhupada’s lecture from Srimad Bhagavatam, followed by bhajans performed by the devotees and arati to Lord Damodhara. The lecture on worship of Govardhana hill and magnanimous qualities of Srila Prabhupada was delivered by H.G.Sarvananda Das, Manager, ISKCON Pondicherry. Some of the devotees glorified His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder Acharya of ISKCON and some of the shared their realization of reading Srila Prabhupada’s books. The main event of the festival is circumbulation of Giri Govardhana who was mounted on the sweets, rice, and other preparations in the midst of the temple room, and the devotees shook the walls with ecstatic kirtans and with mellifluous tunes. With love and devotion, countless devotees danced and sang as they walked around Giri Govardhana, ushered expertly by a team of devotees dedicated to ensuring that everyone had a chance to take darshan of the Lord. The feast was a relishable affair. The temple room was overflowing with guests and the festivity was only just building up steam.
